occassionally wipe your sterling silver jewellery with a soft moist cloth. Do not soak the cloth in
water, too much of water could affect certain gem stones. Make sure that the cloth appears just damp
and moist, use a cloth that has no sharp or hard pins, clips or buttons. Severe silver tarnish can
get quite stubborn, professional cleaning by a jewellery professional is then required.
We have mentioned above regarding various platings that are used on silver jewellery, these platings
are done to slow the tarnish process. As mentioned earlier plated sterling silver jewellery, will look
quite awful when the plating starts to wear off. We would therefore recommend, sterling silver jewellery
that is not plated. Just make sure to wipe your silver jewel with a soft moist cloth once in a while.
Cleaning: There is a good degree of similarity in cleaning gold jewellery and silver jewellery.
A simple rule that is always true is that, expensive jewellery should not be worn throughout the day,
treat such jewels as special occassion jewels. Good quality 925 silver jewellery does not come cheap, you should
therefore give it the same degree of attention as you would for gold jewellery. When you clean silver gem stone
jewellery or even gold jewellery, you will need to consider the type of gems set in the jewellery.
For examples, gems like bloodstone and turquoise should not be soaked in water. If you have emeralds set in

However, if you prefer to use silver polish lotions and fabrics, make sure that the chemical contents
of these cleaners do not affect the gemstones in your silver jewellery.
