We can tell you so much about this rutilated quartz ring that, you would be amazed and surprised at all the facts. But before that, let us talk about the gemstone in the RG700 ring with rutilated quartz gem. As you might know, the mineral quartz is found in abundance on our planet. While most of the quartz that is mined is white (colorless), the presence of various impurities can impart a different color to the stone. This is what brings us those gorgeous gems like rose quartz, citrine and amethyst. When choosing a quartz gem that is either white or of another color, an experienced gem buyer would look for a stone with minimum or no inclusions. Technically we would say that, clarity is a highly desired feature when choosing a gem like quartz. But even a casual glance at the rutilated quartz ring shown in the RG700 image would reveal that, the gemstone is anything but 'clean'. The brownish golden straw like inclusions seen in the stone, do not need any magnifying device to be detected. These strands of material that you see in the stone are actually, composed of another mineral and not quartz. The mineral that is seen embedded in the quartz is, rutile and this is what gives the stone it's name namely, rutilated quartz.

The interesting thing about the rutile inclusions in this quartz stone is that, they actually add to the appeal and value of the gemstone. If you are a bit more interested in learning about the formation and origin of rutilated quartz, here is some interesting information for you. The rutile needles, would actually have been formed long before the quartz was formed. With quartz having a formation process that takes around a few centuries or even upto a million years, objects that are around the area where the quartz is being formed, can enter the mass of material that finally crystallizes to form quartz. As the quartz stone gets formed, the foreign particles or objects that enter the stone get trapped forever. This is how the fine rutile threads came to be present within the white quartz. Don't expect much symmetry and geometry from the pacement, density or orientation of the rutile present in the quartz - it is all handled by nature and nature, needs to answer no one. The color of the rutile needles can be yellow, yellowish brown or even a much thicker blackish-brown color.

Now step back and think about, the specific gem in your rutilated quartz ring. With no manual intervention taking place during the quartz formation, each piece of rutilated quartz would be completely different from the others. So when you get your RG700 gold or 925 silver rutilated quartz gemstone ring, rest assured that, the gem will be absolutely unique and like no other rutilated quartz stone on earth. We did mention above that, thanks to the presence of the rutile inclusions in the stone, the quartz looks much better and has a higher value too. At the same time, the rutile inclusions themselves need to be equally gratefully to the quartz! The structure of the needles is so very fine that, they could have been blown away or disintegrated into a thousand pieces by the mere force of a blowing wind. It would be only right to say that, the rutile needles would have had a very short life had they, not managed to enter the quartz at the right time during the formation of the stone. What this all means is that, you are actually seeing a bunch of rutile needles that were formed about a million years ago, in perfectly intact form, shape and condition. So the quartz acts like a responsible museum, and preserves the rutile threads for another few centuries or even millions of years.

We got so carried away explaining the scientific wonder of the natural inclusions in quartz that, we almost missed the significance and importance of the ring itself - more precisely the concept of the jewel. At first glance, most of you would say that this is a gorgeous rutilated quartz heart ring. While this is quite true, the fact is that the ring has meaning and significance that goes far beyond a traditional heart ring. About 4 centuries ago, a humble Irish fisherman by the name of Robert Joyce ended up being sold as a slave. Robert was sold to a wealthy goldsmith, and toiled hard for his master. It was not harship of slavery that saddened him but, the sad fact that the was separated from his beloved. It was the mere dream of being able to meet her again that, gave the young slave the strength to carry on. Mentally preparing himself to be a free man one day and be re-united with his beloved, Robert decided to make something that he could gift her. Putting together his newly learnt skills as a jewelry maker, young Robert started to make a ring for her. A few years later, he was freed from slavery and rushed back to his village in Ireland. He was truly moved to see that his beloved had waited for him all these years. He immediately gave her the ring that he had made for her, the couple were soon married and started a new life together. The ring that Robert made for his beloved, came to be known as the claddagh ring. It was named after the small Irish fishing village in which the young couple lived - the name was claddagh.

The features of this claddagh rutilated quartz ring, are both interesting and meaningful. The center heart denotes love, the hands are symbolic of togetherness and the crown depicts loyalty. It is this tremendous meaning of love, loyalty and togetherness that gives the jewel it's meaning. As time went by, the world came to hear about the claddagh ring story, the jewel also became popular in countries located far away from Ireland. The theme of this historic jewel, makes it suitable for all occasions. You could for example, wear the ring as a wedding or engagement ring or as a promise ring. The jewel is also perfect for a mothers ring, or a valentines jewel. Kaisilver is credited with crafting, the world's best rendition of the claddagh ring.
