Claddagh Meaning, What Is Claddagh

To understand the true meaning of the Claddagh we need to go back in time by around 300 years. Claddagh is the name of a small fishing village in Ireland. Modernisation has ofcourse, robbed this ancient village of it's natural beauty. The celtic Claddagh ring gets it's name from this Irish village. A fisherman by the name of Robert Joyce is credited for having made the first Claddagh ring for his beloved. The boat that Robert travelled in was captured by pirates and he was sold as a slave to a rich goldsmith. It was then that Robert learnt about jewelry making and made a very special ring for his beloved. He returned to his small village (Claddagh) after being released from slavery and presented the ring to his beloved. They were soon married and lived happily every after. This is the most popular folklore attached to the ancient Irish Claddagh ring.

(06) Gem stone protection is provided by bordering the entire gem stone with gold. This design protects the gem stone from side impact. There is an additional gold weight required for this solid gem stone mounting but, the increase in cost is worth it. We have avoided the use of prong settings as, prongs tend to stick in pockets and other places. This causes the prongs to open up and loosen the gem stone.

(07) Good gold weight is provided for all Kaisilver jewellery. Our jewellery typically weighs around, 50% to 60% more as compared to what other sellers provide for similar designs. This healthy weight ensures that your celtic claddagh ring will not bend and dent out of shape at the slightest impact. As mentioned above, the good gold weight also provides for a more sturdy gem stone mounting.

We recommend 14k gold for your claddagh ring, but the final choice is always yours. The same high quality craftsmanship is provided for both gold and silver rings and silver claddagh rings are not plated with rhodium or any other metal. We can provide gold or rhodium plating on silver at no additional charge, but please remember that all plating will wear off with time.
